🎬 Learn. Edit. Create.

The cameras may have stopped rolling, but the storytelling was only just beginning.

This week, our young filmmakers stepped into the editing suite, discovering how every cut, transition, and sequence can transform raw footage into a compelling story.

🎬 Week 4 of 6: Giving Our Community a Voice

This week, our young filmmakers continued their creative journey in the FilmWorks Trust 6-Week Workshop, proudly supported by BBC Children in Need.

Participants stepped behind the camera to develop their interviewing and communication skills by planning, filming, and recording vox pops with members of the local community. Working together in production teams, they learned how to ask engaging questions, capture high-quality audio, and help interviewees feel comfortable on camera.

The session gave everyone a valuable insight into documentary filmmaking and the importance of listening to different perspectives. By telling real stories from real people, participants discovered how film can connect communities and give a platform to voices that deserve to be heard.

It has been inspiring to see the confidence of our young filmmakers continue to grow as they take on new roles, develop professional filmmaking skills, and become more confident communicators with every session.

πŸŽ₯ Week 4 of 6 complete. Every great story starts by listening.

β€œI was nervous to interview someone at first, but once we started talking, it felt really natural. It was amazing hearing people’s different opinions and stories.”
