In Week 2 of the FilmWorks Trust Creative Media Programme, young participants explored the origins of cinema by learning about the pioneering Lumière Brothers, whose inventions helped launch the film industry. They watched and discussed the famous 1896 film Arrival of a Train at La Ciotat Station, one of the earliest motion pictures ever shown to an audience, and discovered how these simple moving images evolved into the films and digital content we create today. 🎬✨
🎬 Week 2 of 6: Lights, Camera, Action!
Our young filmmakers took a huge step forward this week in the FilmWorks Trust Creative Media Programme, proudly supported by BBC Children in Need.
After learning the foundations of storytelling and storyboarding in Week 1, participants put their ideas into action by working in small production teams to plan, direct, and film their very own 6-shot films.
From choosing locations and framing shots to directing scenes and collaborating as a crew, the group experienced the creative process of filmmaking firsthand while building confidence, teamwork, and communication skills.
We’re incredibly proud of the creativity and enthusiasm on display and can’t wait to see how these projects develop over the coming weeks.
🎥 Week 2 of 6 complete. The stories are starting to come to life.
